A tactile, wall-less space of sculpted limestone

Our first signature store in Shinjuku was designed in partnership with Tokyo practice Torafu Architects. It is situated in NEWoMan, a curated assembly of concept stores housed within the ward’s train station, which is the busiest in the world.

The wall-less space is constructed chiefly from limestone. This pale, tactile material is used for flooring, pillars and fixtures, which appear to be sculpted from a single mass. The joints are set in a three-dimensional grid, with 108 pieces at each position. A large sink unit is combined with a pillar that provides tiered display shelving. Recessed overhead lights and feature backlighting effect gentle illumination throughout the interior.
