Aesop Shibuya

Evoking the congenial atmosphere of a carefully designed Tokyo home.

Our fifth Japanese signature store, located in lively Shibuya, was designed in partnership with Torafu architects, with whom we have worked on a number of spaces, including Shin-Marunōchi and Yokohama.

The key design element came from windows on a side wall, revealed during renovations. These bring soft natural light to the markedly long, slender interior; a mirror installed on the opposite wall enhances light, views and extensity.

Streamlined shelving and an elongated demonstration sink, both of blackened steel, complementing the polite order of product display. The transition from charcoal timber flooring to Sisal carpet offers textural variety and warmth, akin to the congenial atmosphere of a carefully designed Tokyo home.
